This role is a key support role and trusted advisor to the Geography Lead. Each Geography contains multiple active major projects in addition to a healthy and diverse mix of projects across multiple disciplines and markets. Multi-discipline projects are a regular occurrence. The Commercial Lead is experienced in coal face major project commercial delivery and in addition to business management commercial support (invoicing, cash collection, PFF, go no go reviews, bid reviews, commercial stability reviews), the Geography Commercial Lead will be responsible for the generous mentoring and embedding of best practice in and across both their geography and the commercial services team.


The Opportunity

  • Provides advice and support to Project Directors and others on all commercial matters at all stages of our projects from initial proposals to project close, including initial drafting of contracts, negotiation of contracts, negotiation of claims, fee payments and the settlement of disputes.
  • Leads the local commercial services team with a focus on personal development, excellence and impact. Leading people to develop greater capacity and influence in their roles and expand the capabilities of the team.
  • Keen focus on the risk and commercial aspect of complex major projects including Alliances, D&C and Joint Ventures and large, multi-discipline lead consultant design commissions.
  • Supports and leads / manages commercial and risk elements of major bids including assessing the fee requirements.
  • Reviews bids and projects as appropriate and takes action to intervene where necessary in line with the region bid policy.


Is this role right for you?

  • Significant experience in Alliances, D&C and Joint Venture delivery together with Arup led, multi-discipline design commissions.
  • Deep understanding and experience in project commercial management, single and multi-disc projects
  • A digital first, solutions focused mentality.
  • Detailed knowledge of best practise Financial systems, commercial systems, and protocols.
