Job brief/purpose

Façade Design/Engineering/Consulting. As a member of the Building Engineering Team, you will be responsible for the façade design/engineering/consulting practice of projects.

Reporting line: Façade Leader
Number of team members: around 10

Collaboration with other teams: Tokyo Office is a multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm that provides design and advisory services for buildings as well as the following main services. We work together on each project and develop our services in a holistic approach, one of our founder’s philosophies.

  • Offshore wind foundation structural design

Responsibilities

You will meet with a variety of clients and project stakeholders to assist in designing and engineering facades for aesthetic appeal, functional requirements, energy efficiency and sustainability, gaining foundational knowledge in façade engineering. Our team has a wide-ranging portfolio, and you will have the opportunity to work on high profile projects, as well as collaborate with other Teams/Disciplines such as Structures, MEP and Lighting.

Candidate Requirement (e.g. qualification, experience, etc)

Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following:

  • First-hand experience within a consulting business environment (minimum 3 years in Japan) for at least one or more aspects of façade design.
  • Façade engineering experience is not mandatory, but a proactive approach to learning is essential.
  • First-hand experience delivering building projects from start to finish, including exposure to finish detailing, fabrication, and construction, is highly beneficial.
  • Proficiency in structural and/or environmental analysis software, and competency in 2D (Autocad) and/or 3D (Rhino/Grasshopper) modelling software are highly beneficial.
  • Proficiency in Japanese is essential, in English highly beneficial.

  • Be willing to take on new challenges and proactively learn new things within a multi-facetted discipline, adapting to industry developments.
  • Be willing to work on multiple projects in parallel, in a fast-paced, collaborative environment that encourages sharing of information and communication.
  • Team worker; ability to work proactively, including with our overseas offices.
  • Be willing to communicate in English.

Education & Qualification

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or Architecture or similar areas.
  • Registered Architect and/or Engineer (Japan or overseas), or planning to become one.

Working Hours: 8 hours per day between 5:00 to 22:00 (Break time is 60 minutes)
Probationary period: 6 months
